Contract manufacturers aim to ease reliance on stagnating smartphone profits

TAIPEI -- Foxconn and Quanta Computer are among major Taiwanese electronics manufacturers boosting contract production of generative AI servers, looking to capture exploding demand from U.S. companies as profits from mainstay smartphones and computers lag.
Foxconn had its latest servers equipped with Nvidia artificial intelligence semiconductors on display last month at a Nvidia developers conference in California. The servers' operating efficiency-boosting cooling system, developed in house, garnered much attention.
